Traditional Shinto Summer Service
On July 31, Rev. Yoshinobu Miyake, Executive Director of Konko Church of Izuo, attended Summer Service at Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine on behalf of the Most Rev. Tatsuo Miyake, Senior Chief Minister.

The service is positioned as the last summer festival in Osaka, and is also well known as one of the most traditional Shinto festivals. Rev. Miyake tried Shinto ceremony in the style followed the old arrangement to communicate with traditional religion.

On July 31, Mr. Takashi Inamori, Director of Finance at Osaka municipal government, and Mr. Yoshiteru Fukuyama, a City Councilor constituent, paid a courtesy call to the Most Rev. Tatsuo Miyake at Konko Church of Izuo.

The 75th Women Association Assembly
On July 13, Women Association of Konko Church of Izuo held the 75th Anniversary Conference inviting a lot of distinguished guests including Mrs. Haruko Kibe, Chair of Religious Women Association, and more than 3,200 members from all over the country. The association also invited Mr. Akihiro Miwa, a famous singer and actor, as a lecturer.

Although it was middle of the rainy season, the Sacred Hall of Izuo Church was filled with the attendees before the starting time. They appreciated Oyagami*1 that they could have such a great 75th anniversary, and told the success to the ancestors’ spirit including the late Mrs. Tsune Miyake, the first Chair of Izuo Women Association.

The ceremony was opened with opening address from Mrs. Chizu Takeda, President of the Women Association, and Mrs. Sugako Miyake, Chair of the association. Then the best members of the year and the best branch associations were awarded and 43 permanent members who had belonged the association more than 50 years were also awarded. And then the most Rev. Tatsuo Miyake, Senior Chief Minister, delivered a speech, and the representatives of the members presented bouquet to Rev. and Mrs. Miyake in their appreciation.

Then the commemorative lecture started. The lecturer, Mr. Akihiro Miwa, came up to the stage in sky-blue dress with blond hair wig. He had long experience in the entertainment world, and also wrote a lot of bestseller books, so he was very good at attracting audience. All the attendees listened earnestly his humorous speech for 90 minutes.

Tow granddaughters of Rev. and Mrs. Miyake presented a bouquet to Mr. Miwa in appreciation after his lecture. In the end of the ceremony, the distinguished guests were introduced and message from Mr. Shizuka Kamei, a member of Diet who had given a lecture the previous year, and Mr. Megumu Sato, the former Minister of Legal, and then they gave three cheers.
