Declaration: Prayer for Settlement of Iraq Confrontation February 8, 2003 We, Konko Church of Izuo, declare here the objection to the prospective armed attacking to Iraq by the United States and some liaison nations in contradiction to the UN Security Council resolution No. 1441. Not for the tangible proof that Iraq produces weapon of mass destruction secretly at the inspection by UN Monitoring Verification and Inspection Committee (UNMOVIC) and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the insist of "Danger of Hussein Government against the world peace" by the US could not be reasonable. We, as who desire to realize the world peace by dialogue and cooperation among religious leaders, would sincerely like Mr. George W. Bush, President of the US and other world leaders to solve this international matter by dialogue to establish mutual trust and diplomatic tools rather than by armed power sacrificing invaluable lives. We cannot help feeling deep sad when we witness Iraqi citizen loosing their life. We would like to request Mr. President Saddam Hussein to cooperate in a serious manner for the inspections by UNMOVIC and IAEA, if he does not hide anything, in order to eliminate distrust and confrontation between other nations and to remove economic restrictions as soon as possible. We also would like Mr. Jun'ichiro Koizumi, Prime Minister of Japan, to continue to make every effort for Japan independent peaceful diplomacy according to our principle of peace Constitution, not supporting armed attacking of the US. We, Konko Church of Izuo, pledge to cooperate together and pray together to appeal the above message to related governments and UN organizations.
